Caro/Jeunet exhibit

As announced, there will be a Caro/Jeunet exhibit at the Halle St Pierre in Montmartre, beginning on September 7. Often cinema exhibits focus mainly on writing. But ours will be entirely visual, including all the emblematic items from our films, costumes, storyboards, research drawings, models, photos from the shooting, etc…

The Halle Saint Pierre was an obvious choice. An unpretentious museum of popular art, located just a few meters from where Nino Quincampoix chased Amélie in the gardens of the Sacré Cœur…

It was at Halle Saint Pierre that I discovered Jephan de Villiers, Ronan-Jim Sévellec, Charles Matton, Gilbert Peyre, where I admired the works of Giger, spiritual guide of my “Alien”… artists that I collect and who bridge the gap between “Singular” art and our films, which are no less, at least I hope… singular.

Two snails in Auvergne

The “Deux escargots” set off for the opening ceremony of the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival. Here I am, on the stage with Romain Segaud, co-director and animator, and Julien Lecat, who took care of the editing and recorded the 35 actors. In the photo projected above us is the Clermont-Ferrand jury in 1983, under the leadership of President Henri Alekan, with Marie-Claude Treihou, Ted Benoit, Sophie Taticheff, Florence Giorgetti, a bookseller from Clermont, and yours truly, a few years younger…

“Two Snails Set Off” is showing at Les Fauvettes

Our short film Two Snails Set Off is showing at “Les Fauvettes” cinema, 58 av des Gobelins, Paris, a magnificent cinema renovated by Pathé. It will be shown on all five screens before all films during the school holidays, from 17/12 to 2/1/2017. Yesterday was the premiere, shown before my favourite Marcel Carné film: Port of Shadows. Romain Segaud and I were there…

Then from January 18 to 24, it will be shown at all the sessions of the equally magnificent “Studio 28” in Montmartre, as part of Telerama week…

Did you see that S car go?

My short film, which I co-wrote with Roman Segaud, (who single-handedly animated my creatures which were inspired by the artist Jephan de Villiers, who I admire and have been collecting from for a long time (http://Jephan-de-villiers.com), currently on display at the Galerie Grand Rue in Poitiers until the 5th of november) is finally finished. The first screening took place at the Halle Garnier, for the opening of “Lumière 2016”, in front of 4,500 viewers! Julien Lecat, director of all of my “Making ofs” since A Very Long Engagement, recorded the 35 actors and did the editing. Based on the poem Song of Snails Going to a Funeral by Jacques Prévert.
