An American Ad for Marriott

An advertisement, made by yours truly for Marriott hotels, was screened at the Oscars. Filmed in Sedona near the Grand Canyon, Nashville, Verbier in the Swiss mountains, Costa Rica, Kyoto and Dubai, with castings in Los Angeles, New York, Zurick, Tokyo… with the great Yanush Kaminski on lighting. Suzanne Preissler was the producer for Independant Media in L.A.

“Les Cinémas de Caro/Jeunet”

A book about our work together, Caro and I, and our personal movies, has been published by Cernunnos/Dargaud… A sort of extension of the Halle St Pierre exhibit, with photos, drawings and other unpublished documents, including long interviews by Laurent Djan and prefaces by Claudie Ossard and Dominique Pinon.

“Delicatessen” alight

Meanwhile, Delicatessen was screened three times at the ‘Lumière’ festival, which I presented with Dominique Pinon, to a crowded room. Regrettably, even 60 people were left out in the cold in Villeurbanne… As Claude Lelouch said during the opening ceremony, “the only valid critique is time.” It was therefore a pleasure to see short extracts of Delicatessen among other extracts of masterpieces such as 2001 or Once upon a time in the west...

Caro/Jeunet exhibit in Lyon

The Halle Saint Pierre exhibit will be present until May 18, 2019 at the magnificent Cinema and Miniatures Museum, 60 rue Saint Jean in Lyon.

There will be a few less items than in the original exhibit, like the short films The carousel or The escape, but one additional item: a mini cabinet of curiosities, reproducing objects from the exhibit, tinkered by myself and some of my friends, like a mini new-born Alien, sculpted by Allen Dayton, Amélie’s pig lamp and Kazuhito Kimura’s garden gnome, or the bag and the slippers that Amélie exchanges in Collignon’s house, created by Dominique Roche…

A big round of applause to Dan Ohlman and Laurie Courbier, who took care of the set up.

The Caro-Jeunet Exhibit now to be at the Lyon Cinema and Miniatures Museum

The outstanding Caro-Jeunet exhibit at the Halle Saint Pierre has come to an end after 10 months. Many thanks to Martine Lusardi and her collaborators.
Now it will be opening to the public at the superb Cinema and Miniatures Museum in Lyon, at 60 rue Saint Jean, on October 13, a few days before the Lumière festival where Delicatessen will be screened three times.

Amelie had inspired many artists

I knew that Amelie had inspired many artists, but I didn’t realise how many! While doing research on Pinterest I came across these illustrations! Among
others…

Caro/Jeunet exhibit

As announced, there will be a Caro/Jeunet exhibit at the Halle St Pierre in Montmartre, beginning on September 7. Often cinema exhibits focus mainly on writing. But ours will be entirely visual, including all the emblematic items from our films, costumes, storyboards, research drawings, models, photos from the shooting, etc…

The Halle Saint Pierre was an obvious choice. An unpretentious museum of popular art, located just a few meters from where Nino Quincampoix chased Amélie in the gardens of the Sacré Cœur…

It was at Halle Saint Pierre that I discovered Jephan de Villiers, Ronan-Jim Sévellec, Charles Matton, Gilbert Peyre, where I admired the works of Giger, spiritual guide of my “Alien”… artists that I collect and who bridge the gap between “Singular” art and our films, which are no less, at least I hope… singular.
